I am fascinated by the beauty of the first bud to the wilting and crispy death of both fancy plants and common weeds and grass.

Artist’s Statement

I am a botanical artist creating one-of-a-kind pieces using natural materials. I collect and arrange botanicals primarily from my own garden with a few weeds from the neighborhood thrown in. Cyanotype printmaking is my artistic medium utilizing a ‘wet process’ method. I am constantly challenged by the lack of control in this process and thrilled by the color shifts and diversity of textures one can achieve. The products I use are natural alkaline or acid liquids and many spices and herbs.  My yard or gardens from my travels continue to be a source of inspiration for my cyanotypes to bring your home beauty, joy, and peace.

Artist’s Biography

Roxi Hardegree is a full-time artist based in Lubbock, Texas. She grew up on a farm in North Dakota where the outdoors birthed a sense of exploration and adventure. Days were spent fishing in the river, making crafty things and planting or picking flowers from the garden. Her mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother had luscious flower beds filled with peonies, roses, delphinium, and seas of iris and lilies. These women were the biggest creative influences in her life. She has made both traditional and art quilts, written quilting books, and taught quilting classes. Roxi has also had a life long passion for photography which has blessed her with many sales and awards. She has come full circle and is back to crafting with her hands— creating botanical prints with cyanotype and collage including eco prints. During her down time, she can be found traveling the country in the RV with husband Blake and their doodle Sofi.
